EASTON, MARYLAND — Talbot’s cannabis-tax reinvestment plan is still open for your written say.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, the County Council held a public hearing on Talbot County’s proposed Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund Initial Distribution Plan. The fund directs a portion of Maryland’s adult-use cannabis tax revenue toward community-based initiatives that benefit disproportionately impacted and qualifying low-income communities. Talbot Family Network — the county’s Local Management Board — was previously designated to serve as the local Community Reinvestment and Repair Commission and guide how that money is used here.

The initial plan names three priority areas: economic stability and mobility; housing stability; and child development and educational opportunity. The Council kept the public comment period open after the hearing. Residents may submit comments to publiccomment [at] talbotcountymd.gov. The county’s CRRF page also points the public to the draft distribution plan and that same comment address.

The hearing left a planning document on the table — one that will shape future funding criteria around those three published priorities. If you live here, read the plan on talbotcountymd.gov/crrf and write while the mailbox is still open.
