EASTON, MARYLAND — Vetagro, an Italian company that makes animal-nutrition products, opened its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Easton on Oct. 7, the company said.
The production and distribution plant covers about 40,000 square feet on a 14-acre site in the Mistletoe Hall Business Park. Vetagro says the plant will put it closer to customers in North America and help it grow in international markets. Vetagro was the first business to break ground in the Mistletoe Hall Commerce-Business Park, according to the Maryland Department of Commerce.
The company broke ground on Sept. 16, 2025, according to Talbot County Economic Development, which said at the time the plant was expected to open in July 2026. Because the site is in one of Maryland's Enterprise Zones, Vetagro is eligible for real property and state income tax credits in return for job creation and investment, the Commerce Department said. Neither Vetagro's opening announcement nor the Commerce Department's release gives a hiring figure.
State Sen. Johnny Mautz, Talbot County Council Member Keasha Haythe and Easton Mayor Megan Cook attended the opening, along with the Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia, Nico Frandi, the company said.
"We are proud to open this new chapter right here in Easton," said Andrea Piva, Vetagro's chief executive.
