EASTON, MARYLAND — For All Seasons has posted a free, self-paced online video course, Real Talk: Conversations That Save Lives, for middle and high school students and the trusted adults in their lives. The agency’s Center for Learning lists the course as now available; users enroll or log in through its online learning platform.

In announcing the course, For All Seasons said the video lessons cover suicide prevention and mental health topics that commonly affect adolescents. Lessons for adults give guidance on recognizing when a young person may be struggling, listening and responding without judgment, starting difficult conversations, and knowing when more support may be needed. Other lessons speak directly to teens, and discussion guides help both groups continue the conversation. The course page says the short videos are designed for teens to watch with a trusted adult, and names educators, counselors, coaches, youth leaders and parents among the adults who can use them.

Students and graduates of Easton High School and St. Michaels High School volunteered to appear in several of the videos. Their topics include social media, rumors and group chats, isolation and belonging, anger as a possible sign of emotional distress, reaching out when a friend is struggling, and telling a trusted adult when something does not feel right.

Gabby Hare, For All Seasons' staff accountant, explained in the announcement why she took part. "I lost my brother to suicide years ago," she said. "There are things I know now that could have helped him, so I want to be a part of sharing what could help others."

Questions about the course go to CenterForLearning [at] ForAllSeasonsinc.org. For All Seasons, whose client services are now at 300 Talbot Street in Easton, lists a 24-hour crisis hotline at 410-820-5600 in English and 410-829-6143 in Spanish; the 410-829-6143 line also takes texts in English or Spanish.
