ASHBURN, VIRGINIA — Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin tore his patellar tendon in Monday night's 23-17 loss at San Francisco and is out for the season, head coach Dan Quinn said Tuesday afternoon, the team reported.

McLaurin went down holding his knee while running a route in the first quarter and was carted to the locker room wearing an air cast. He finished with one catch for 27 yards.

A team captain and a 2019 third-round pick, McLaurin led Washington with 230 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. He is fifth on the franchise's all-time receiving list.

"He's a captain and one of our real leaders," Quinn said. "And so, we're all here to support him. That was certainly tough news."

Receivers left on the roster include veteran Stefon Diggs, Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown and rookie Antonio Williams, and tight end Chig Okonkwo led Washington with 69 receiving yards against the 49ers. Quinn also named practice-squad receivers Jaden Bradley and Van Jefferson as possible call-ups.

The Commanders have their bye this week.
